Famous Cridlands currently alive
- Ansel Cridland, frontman of Jamaican reggae group The Meditations (and previously "The Linkers"). He also sang with Bob Marley, including providing 'harmony vocals' on Exodus, which was one of Bob Marley's best-known albums in the UK and his first to get into the top ten here.
- M Cridland played for the Stockton Ports minor league baseball team in the US in September 1999.
- Susan Cridland wrote episodes of hit US TV show "Married with Children".
- Tim Cridland was "The Torture King" in the Jim Rose Circus Sideshow, known for eating light bulbs and impaling himself with hat pins and meat skewers. In October 2000, an e-mail arrives, telling me that "Zamora The Torture King" is now independent of the Jim Rose show, and is touring with Flexx the India Rubber Boy. He is currently playing at Knott's Scary Farm in Anaheim, CA.

- James Cridland is the Managing Editor of the New Media team at Virgin Radio.
- From 1989-1994, Diane Cridland broadcast on Los Angeles's KABC. She then left to program news/talk station KDKA Radio in Pittsburgh, till 1996.
Cridlands who broke the law
- Charles (Chas) Cridland, born 1803, was convicted for stealing a hankerchief (value 6s - about 30p or 50 cents) at the Old Bailey, on Wednesday 12th April 1820. He was transported to the colonies (Sydney) for life. He was aged 17. He recieved a full pardon from the king in 1837 and was subsequently given a land grant. He married Elizabeth Whelan on the 25th September 1825.
